I talked about the dangers of diet soda a couple of shows ago, but some information came out recently about the dangers of sodium benzoate. That’s right, the stuff that makes your food last longer by inhibiting the growth of mold is killing you. More accurately when mixed with citric acid in drinks like Fanta or Sprite it’s damaging mitochondria. The two are combining and makeing benzene. I seem to remember talking about this before now that I havee already posted this, so I’ll have to verify that, but in the meanwhile…Check out the article or listen in to the next show for more information.

Fanta screws with your mitochondria?

  1. You inhale about as much benzene in the three minutes you spend pumping gas at the gas station than you would consume by drinking twelve ounces of the most benzene-rich soft drink ever found.

    In other words, EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!!

  2. Thank you for your interesting story!

  3. Obviously I need to spend more time on this subject.

Jules, what the hell are you doing inhaling gas fumes at the pump? Get on your cell phone and make a call instead of inhaling fumes.

  4. Thinking about this some more, if the exposure to benzene has a cumulutave effect, and from what I’ve read online it does, then each and every little bit of exposure to it, be gasoline or orange drink, is killing me. I should limit my exposure as much as possible. Also I work quite frequently in petrochemical refineries, so I should quit my job too. Now I’m PANICED!!!!

  5. I agree with this completely, thanks for the post.
